Conference Aims.

University College Thomas More, the University Forensic Centre and NL-ATSA will for the first time host an international conference together with top of the bill keynote speakers on the topic of sex offender assessment and treatment. This unique can’t-miss-event will give the opportunity to European researchers and practitioners to be informed about the most recent developments in sex offender research and practice. With this multiple-day conference we aim to give a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the assessment and treatment of sex offenders, and of desirable future developments within this field.

Before the conference, two workshops will be offered. These preconference workshops focus on an in-depth training of important assessment and treatment skills.

During the first day, a selection of highly regarded experts will discuss recent developments in the (risk) assessment of sex offenders and how these developments might influence the treatment programs.

On the second day, we invite the participants to actively take part in 2 workshops on various subgroups of sex offenders: female sex offenders, sex offenders with intellectual disabilities and severe mental disorders, online sex offenders, juvenile sex offenders and violent sex offenders. All workshops are led by international experts in these topics. In the afternoon, current treatment programs will be critically analyzed and future directions will be proposed.

The conference is aimed at a wide range of disciplines (e.g. psychologists, psychiatrists, criminologists, social workers) involved in forensic mental health, policy and criminal justice.

In addition, both researchers and professionals are given the opportunity to exhibit their studies and clinical cases on related topics during two poster sessions.

We would be pleased to welcome you at our conference! We hope to see you there!
